Arizona Science Center Receives State Funding to
Expand Summer Camp Programs

CAMP INNOVATION Will Be Offered at the Science Center and at Various Locations throughout AZ

PHOENIX, AZ – June 5, 2023 – Thanks to funding awarded by Governor Katie Hobbs, Arizona Science Center is proud to be able to offer summer camps to more families this year. The funding provided by the Governor’s Summer Enrichment Grant will support Arizona Science Center’s CAMP INNOVATION in hosting more than 2,000 children across Arizona at no charge.
CAMP INNOVATION will spark curiosity in campers with exciting, hands-on STEM learning experiences. CAMP INNOVATION encourages campers to investigate, inquire, and develop interests in various STEM topics. CAMP INNOVATION inspires campers with creative problem-solving activities and project-making, with themes including coding and robotics, engineering, chemistry, aeronautics, and more.

“Reinvigorating learning in school and out of school is one of my top priorities,” said Governor Katie Hobbs. “Arizona Science Center is a key partner for Arizona and I’m proud to be able to support their efforts to bring their wonderful summer enrichment program to families free of charge this year.”

Starting on June 5 and running through July 28, CAMP INNOVATION features 5-day long camp sessions for students in grades 1–12 at Arizona Science Center. To expand the reach of CAMP INNOVATION, Arizona Science Center is happy to offer several offsite locations throughout Arizona.

“Exciting, hands-on STEM learning experiences, like CAMP INNOVATION, prepare Arizona youth for high school and the workforce as they develop critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills through inquiry-based learning,” said Guy Labine, The Hazel A. Hare President & CEO, Arizona Science Center. “Given the robust growth of the Arizona economy, especially in the tech sector, Arizona Science Center is thrilled to receive this funding and make CAMP INNOVATION available to young people across Arizona this summer.”

Space is limited and registration is required. To learn more or to register visit AzScience.org/Camps.
