Professional Development for Schools Serving Grades PreK-8
The Center for Leadership in Learning at Arizona Science Center is your trusted partner to provide customized professional development, mentoring and coaching support, and consultation services.
Engage in hands-on, standards-aligned, research-based best practices that strengthen teacher/administrator practice and build the skills educators need to effectively address students' learning needs. Sessions range from 90-minutes to six hours and can occur during or after the school day. Topics include but are not limited to Project-Based Learning (PBL), Integrating STEM, the engineering design process (EDP), establishing and maintaining effective science classrooms, teaching the new science standards, fostering science discourse and vocabulary, fostering a maker mindset, becoming a STEM-focused school, introducing STEM to young learners, and building STEM leaders.
Mentoring and Coaching
Through our mentoring and coaching support, we help teachers through the pre-planning, reflecting, and problem-solving aspects of STEM education through observations and targeted feedback, co-planning lessons, and modeling lessons for teachers. This service can also be geared for administrators, instructional coaches, and professional development facilitators.
We offer workshops and consultation services to support a school leadership team in developing their STEM/STEAM implementation plan to transition into a STEM/STEAM school. Topics include the STEM culture shift, project-based learning, STEM in a 1:1 environment, and integrating STEM/STEAM into all subjects. We guide schools and districts through the development of comprehensive STEM/STEAM programs from the ground up that are student-led and STEM-focused.
