Arizona Science Center Celebrates
Earth Day 2023 in Big Ways

 

PHOENIX, AZ – April 17, 2023 – Arizona Science Center is ready to celebrate Earth Day with an important achievement, a sustainability conference, and free community event. 

Arizona Science Center joins the 115 Phoenix businesses to join the City of Phoenix Green Business Program, earning recognition as a Gold Level Green Business Leader! The Green Business Program recognizes and promotes businesses that volunteer to operate in a more environmentally responsible manner through sustainable actions. 

Actions that have led to this certification include: using paper bags instead of plastic in the Science Shop, opting for reusable aluminum water bottles– eliminating single-use plastic bottles, using LED lights in galleries, and the conscious upcycling of materials for camps, outreach, and CREATE programs. 

“This is an exciting step in recognizing our team-wide existing measures for sustainability. We have a lot of room to grow in our climate action work, and I’m thankful to the City of Phoenix for acknowledging our Green Business practices, as well as the team that practice these efforts day to day,” said said Guy Labine, The Hazel A. Hare President and CEO of Arizona Science Center. 

In celebration of this achievement and Earth Day 2023, Arizona Science Center will serve as the host venue and event sponsor of Green Living Magazine’s The Future of Sustainability in Arizona Summit on April 21 and its Earth Day Extravaganza on April 22. 

In partnership with the City of Phoenix and Green Magazine, The Future of Sustainability in Arizona Summit on Friday, April 21 is an invitation event that convenes influential community members for engaging conversations about sustainability. Keynote Speakers and leader panels include the Honorable Mayor Kate Gallego, as well as business and State leaders. 

The summit will culminate with a two-part Earth Day Extravaganza event on Saturday, April 22:

• Part 1: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Located outside of Arizona Science Center in Heritage & Science Park, the annual Earth Day Celebration will have a host of eco-conscious exhibitors, sponsors, and entertainers that will educate, empower, and inspire our loyal readers and attendees about protecting our planet. And restoring the natural environment that connects us all. This event is FREE to attend. 
• Part 2: 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Inside Arizona Science Center to enjoy Earth Day activations through the Center. Thanks to the generous support of the City of Phoenix, the first 350 guests on Saturday, April 22 will receive FREE general admission to the Center! First come-first serve, must redeem tickets onsite. No advance reservations. 

As an added benefit the Dorrance Planetarium show Dynamic Earth will be included with all general admission tickets on Earth Day. Limited space is available per screening. Reservations required.
