Lost Weekend Planetarium Experience

Dorrance DOME
Ahead of its worldwide release on August 14 via Dead Oceans, Phoebe Bridgers’ newest album Lost Weekend will debut in full inside planetariums around the globe.
Presented beneath the planetarium dome, acclaimed photographer and National Geographic night sky explorer Babak Tafreshi, presents a visual experience culminating from two decades spent documenting extraordinary nocturnal scenes around the globe. Experience Lost Weekend in a breathtaking audiovisual journey that travels from the star-filled skies of Madagascar and the shimmering Northern Lights above Iceland's glaciers to the powerful storms across Texas. Filmed in nearly 20 countries, with no computer-generated imagery, this show brings audiences closer to the natural world through stunning nightscapes that blend music, science, art, and a sense of discovery. The experience invites audiences to reflect on our connection to the universe while celebrating the beauty of dark skies.

A Math Room is a welcoming, hands-on space where guests of all ages can explore math through play, puzzles, and discovery. The Math Room is made possible in partnership with the MathHappens Foundation, a nonprofit organization bringing meaningful math experiences to public spaces across the country.

Calling all Makers! CREATE at Arizona Science Center®’s Bad Art Nights are artfully awesome opportunities to connect with your creative community. Participants will explore icing, piping, and decorative design methods, then practice their new skills on their own mini cake. INVISIBLE PALETTES is a collaborative art/science project, combining a series of paintings by Penny Cagney, which were inspired by and in collaboration with Nobel Laureate Frank Wilczek, Professor Nathan Newman, the ASU SciHub team and their device, the Hylighter, which has ten programmable monochromatic lights.

Passport to the Universe was developed by the American Museum of Natural History, New York in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). (20 minutes)

Join us on this live, presenter-led journey as we decode how Rubin’s 3,200-megapixel camera will create the highest resolution timelapse of the Universe ever produced, transforming how we find supernovae, near-Earth asteroids, and clues about the very fabric of existence. A new film by Guy Reid and Planetary Collective, Orbital transports you through an abstract landscape of light, inspired by bioluminescent earthly beings and atmospheric aurorae. Guided by the astronauts of Constellation Coalition who have looked back and experienced the awe of our place in the universe, you will feel your own “Overview Effect” as you meditate on our planet in Shared Reality.
