Apply today for FREE bus transportation to and from Arizona Science Center
Thanks to many generous partners, Arizona Science Center is pleased to offer a limited number of bus transportation grants to Arizona Title I schools. These grants provide free bus transportation to and from Arizona Science Center for Arizona students in grades K–8. Grants are awarded for transportation costs up to $1,000.
Grants will be awarded from each of the three zones based on the distance of the school from Arizona Science Center:
- Zone 1 - schools within 50 miles
- Zone 2 - schools between 51–150 miles
- Zone 3 - schools greater than 150 miles
Application Process
- Teachers must complete the application form which includes a transportation quote/estimate and W-9.
- Incomplete packages or packages received after the deadline will not be considered.
- Funded educators will receive a notification letter via their provided email address within two weeks of applying.
- Awards will be announced monthly until available funds are exhausted.
- Upon completion of their scheduled field trips, funded educators will receive a short, field trip survey. This survey must be completed within two weeks of the scheduled field trip in order to receive funds.
- Incomplete surveys or surveys received after the deadline will not be considered.
- Funds will be released directly to the indicated school or district following the completion of the field trip survey and receipt of a final transportation invoice from the school district.
- Field trips using Fund-a-Bus grants must be taken by March 31, 2026.
- Grant funds are not transferable.

Field Trip Reservations
If you receive funding, it is your responsibility to make and/or cancel reservations for busing and the field trip to Arizona Science Center. Please book your field trip at least two weeks in advance using the Field Trip Request Form.

No. This program is specifically for Arizona Title I schools. Non-Title I schools are not eligible for this grant.
No. The grant is available only to Arizona students in grades K–8. High schools are not eligible.
Educators must work for a K–8 school that meets Arizona Department of Education requirements for being a Title I school, including having at least 40% of enrolled students on free or reduced lunch.
A complete application includes all required fields, a copy of your school’s W-9, and a transportation quote or estimate for your field trip. Incomplete applications cannot be considered.
Yes. However, only 1 grant can be awarded per qualifying school. Classes may be combined in your application.
No. The Fund-a-bus grant will reimburse your travel costs, however, it is the responsibility of the school or educator to arrange the field trip details.
Thanks to APS, K–8 Title I schools can qualify for free general admission for students, teachers and chaperones when educators complete Arizona Science Center’s Focused Field Trip Orientation. This online companion program covers the myriad ways in which educators can use our exhibits and galleries as extensions of the classroom and provides tips for leading a successful field trip. Educators must complete the requirement, and receive a certificate of completion, to earn their free field trip.

Yes, all applications will receive a notification regarding their status within 2 weeks of applying.
No, your field trip does not need to be booked with Arizona Science Center before applying. If you are awarded a Fund-a-bus grant, you will receive emailed instructions detailing how to set-up your field trip with our Groups team. Please keep in mind, Fund-a-bus field trips must be completed before March 31, 2026.
The grant can reimburse your transportation costs up to $1,000. Any amount beyond your awarded grant is the responsibility of the school or district.
Following your field trip, you will receive emailed instructions asking for your final transportation invoice as well as completion of a short survey. Both must be completed within two weeks.
Funds are released directly to the indicated school or district on the submitted W-9. Funds are not released to individuals or vendors.
