What is Shop Day?
Bring a project and spend dedicated time creating alongside fellow makers. Shop Day is CREATE's monthly makerspace studio session where you can design, prototype, build, repair, and refine personal projects.
Shop Days are designed for independent project work in a collaborative makerspace. CREATE staff are available to answer questions and support safe equipment use while you guide your own project.
Choose Your Workspace
Reserve a table workspace for projects that don't require equipment, or reserve eligible makerspace equipment after completing the appropriate CREATE Skill Studio workshop.
Basic shared makerspace materials are included with every reservation. Specialty materials should be brought with you or may be purchased at CREATE.

Shop Day FAQ
What's the difference between a table reservation and an equipment reservation?Table workspaces are perfect for projects that don't require CREATE equipment, such as assembling, crafting, painting, hand sewing, sketching, planning, or bringing your own tools and materials. Equipment reservations provide access to eligible makerspace equipment for participants who have completed the appropriate CREATE Skill Studio workshop.
Do I need to take a workshop before attending? Not always. Participants reserving a table workspace are welcome to attend without prior experience. Participants wishing to reserve makerspace equipment must first complete the appropriate CREATE Skill Studio workshop.
How do equipment reservations work?Equipment may be reserved by participants who have completed the appropriate CREATE Skill Studio workshop. Equipment reservations are honored in reservation order, so reserving early is the best way to secure access to your preferred equipment.
Can I reserve more than one piece of equipment? Each Shop Day reservation includes one table workspace or one equipment reservation. Additional equipment rentals and session extensions may be added during your visit for an additional fee, subject to availability.
Can two people share one piece of equipment?Yes! Participants working together on the same project may share one equipment reservation. Each participant must still purchase a Shop Day ticket.
Can a friend or family member come with me?Absolutely! Guests are welcome to accompany participants. Anyone wishing to participate in Shop Day activities must purchase a Shop Day ticket. Participants using makerspace equipment must also complete the required CREATE Skill Studio workshop.
What kinds of projects can I work on?Almost anything! Shop Days are a great opportunity to prototype ideas, build gifts, repair items, create art, sew, woodwork, laser cut, 3D print, or make progress on projects you've already started. If you're unsure whether your project is a good fit for the makerspace, contact CREATE before reserving your spot.
What if I don't have a project yet?Shop Days are designed for participants who already have a project or idea in mind. If you're looking to learn a new skill or need project inspiration, we recommend starting with a CREATE Skill Studio workshop.
What if I don't finish my project? No problem! Many projects take more than one Shop Day session to complete. You're always welcome to reserve another session and continue where you left off.
Can I leave my project at CREATE?Projects, materials, and personal belongings should be taken home at the end of each Shop Day unless other arrangements have been made with CREATE staff.
