A Greener Future Starts Here: Sustainability Fest at Arizona Science Center

Hands-on Activities, Live Demos and Community Partners Help Guests Learn Easy Ways to be Eco-Conscious

PHOENIX, AZ – Arizona Science Center is going green by hosting its popular event Sustainability Fest, a day filled with eco-friendly fun, on Saturday April 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Attendees will learn how to live more sustainable lifestyles by exploring topics like water conservation, nature observations, composting and recycling, and more. 

Sustainability Fest is filled with engaging activities, live demonstrations and interesting displays curated by Arizona Science Center and vendors like Legacy EV, Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary, Odysea Aquarium and more. This event, generously sponsored by SRP, will span all four levels of the building to offer engaging, earth-friendly experiences at every turn.

DETAILS: Interested in leading a more sustainable lifestyle but don’t know where to start? Discover how  you can show some love to planet Earth during Sustainability Fest at Arizona Science Center!

From water conservation and ocean acidity to erosion and rising seas, Guests will explore the world of sustainability and learn how to go green in their everyday lives. 

Through hands-on activities, special Guests, exciting demonstrations and more, this full-day event is sure to open your eyes to a greener future! Learning Lab activities include:

  • What’s in the Water: What's in the Water lets participants use tools to solve a mystery: what chemicals and compounds are in a sample of water. By investigating with a variety of tools and techniques learners understand how chemistry can help us explore, understand, and solve problems.
  • Land Cover: What is erosion and how do plants help?
  • Rising Sea: What happens to land as the sea level rises?
  • Early Science: Water Exploration—a Pre-K exploration of water and its properties
  • LEGO Build the Change: Urban Green Areas—Design an urban space to support plants and cool the air with transpiration

A few additional vendor-led experiences include:

  • Odysea Aquarium: Hosting an interactive booth where guests can explore the importance of ocean conservation and the role healthy oceans play in sustaining life on Earth. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on activity focused on reducing plastic pollution and protecting marine habitats.
  • ASU Walton’s Sustainability Teachers Academy: A xeriscape (desert-adapted landscaping) design challenge activity.
  • Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary: Meet-and-greet with animal ambassadors 

COST: All Sustainability Fest activities are included FREE with your Arizona Science Center admission. Children under 3 are always FREE.
