Whether by mentoring students interested in pursuing a professional path or introducing kids to new STEM innovations during summer camp, the Science Center builds the foundation for the next generation of science and technology inventors and leaders.

Hosted by Arizona Science Center’s Teen Advisory Board, the teen events at the Center cater to students ages 13 and older with a curiosity for science, technology, engineering and math. Events range from in-person camps to virtual workshops and touch on a variety of STEM-inspired topics relevant to the teenage experience.

Panel Professionals: Amazing Agriculture
August 17 | 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Curious about agricultural careers? Whether you’re an aspiring veterinarian, interested in livestock nutrition or want to know more about the science behind agriculture, Arizona Science Center’s next Panel Professionals will offer expert insight into the fascinating world of agriculture! Science Center Members and Guests are invited to participate in an engaging, hour-long Q+A panel followed by hands-on workshops that give insight into various agricultural careers.
Panelists:
- Dr. Anthony Martin is an Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Arizona’s College of Veterinary Medicine. As part of the food and fiber group, he focuses on teaching clinical skills and food animal medicine to students.
- Sarah Radachy is the Senior Account Manager for Phibro Animal Health Corporation in the dairy nutritional specialties division, working closely with producers, veterinarians and nutritionists.
- Dr. Juan Rodríguez is part of the Dairy Technical Services team as a veterinarian at Pfizer Animal Health, providing support to producers and veterinarians to ensure solutions to a broad array of animal health and wellbeing.
- Dr. Michelle Schack is a dairy cattle veterinarian who has practiced in Arizona for the last nine years. In addition, she co-founded DairyKind, an online training platform for dairy farmers and their employees that promotes animal well-being.
Programs
Teen Advisory Board
High school students ages 15 and older work with the Science Center’s leadership team and local organizations to develop, test and implement new content, programs and exhibits.
Volunteers
Teens 15 and older participate in volunteer projects, such as leading activities in the Science Center or prepping science kits for schools around Arizona—even getting a chance to earn service-learning credits.
CAMP INNOVATION
Students join 5-day camps on a variety of STEM education topics from June–July.
Resources
Financing College
A virtual workshop with tips on how to pay for higher education. Hosted by experts, moderated by Teen Advisory Board members.
College Admissions
A virtual workshop that goes behind-the-scenes with university experts on applying for, and getting accepted into, college.
Finding the Right Fit
A virtual workshop that helps high school students weight the pros and cons of which college is best suited to them.
