Science on Wheels
KID TESTED, ADMINISTRATOR APPROVED.
Science on Wheels delivers engaging science experiences to classrooms and community centers throughout Arizona.
Over 48,000 students and teachers are impacted by our Science on Wheels programs each year. Science on Wheels has grown to include our mobile planetarium experience – Universe on Wheels and Preschool Science on Wheels – to bring programs to our littlest learners.
Anthony Pietrangeli, or Mr. Anthony as his 500 students refer to him, is principal at Kenilworth Elementary School, located right up the street from Arizona Science Center in the historic Roosevelt District. Kenilworth is a Title I school, which means that at least 40 percent of its students are from low-income families, allowing the school to use Title I federal funds for school-wide programs like those offered by the Center. Mr. Anthony is also a father of two kiddos ages 9 and 11. Here's what he had to say about Arizona Science Center:
"The Center continues to meet and even exceed my expectations. The team members are A+ with their commitment and efforts to provide an extraordinary experience; regardless of if it is with us visiting the Center or with one of their Science on Wheels outreach teams coming to our school campus. As a principal, Science on Wheels is just one of the Center's program that has changed the dynamics of after-school clubs and classroom activities. The Science on Wheels program has brought us on a field trip to the solar system with their indoor planetarium that they brought to our campus and set up right inside our 96-year-old auditorium. It was super cool to see this technology in a historical building. Cow eyeballs and squids have all been in our classrooms as Science on Wheels facilitated the dissection activity."
Fun Fact: Our Science on Wheels outreach vans drove over 22,600 miles this year to deliver more than 1,130 programs.
