Adults and children alike, wander throughout the space, exploring nooks and crannies and engaging with the experience in a manner that transcends traditional installations.
THE VAN GOGH ALIVE EXPERIENCE
Van Gogh’s inspiration was drawn from the landscape, light and people he encountered throughout the 10-year journey of his artistic life. There are distinct changes in Van Gogh’s style, technique and state of mind during this period. We explore these changes in shifting ‘movements’ or chapters within this carefully constructed experience. The ‘movements’ are designed to be enjoyed both independently and as part of the larger story. The musical score, the majority of which originates from the same period, drives each ‘movement’, reflecting Van Gogh’s artwork and emotional situation at that point in his career.
A MOVING EXPERIENCE
Van Gogh Alive employs a powerful classical score to guide visitors through the tumultuous life of this troubled, yet brilliant, painter. This moving soundtrack reflects the emotional aspects of Van Gogh’s story and offers the visitor a richer experience of both his art and state of mind throughout his amazing career.
HOW VAN GOGH SAW IT
The intense colors, dramatic brushwork and contoured forms of Van Gogh’s work are expressive, even emotional. He greatly influenced current Expressionism in modern art and many claim created Postimpressionism. He described his pieces as "interpretations" or "improvisations". Those are apparent throughout his works especially within The Church at Auvers (above left) when compared to an actual photo (above right).
