Arizona Science Center
With a mission to inspire, educate and entertain people of all ages about science, Arizona Science Center is best known for its hands-on exhibits, larger-than-life IMAX® and Dorrance Planetarium presentations and traveling exhibitions that can not be experienced anywhere else in Arizona, such as BODY WORLDS 3 and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Exhibition (world premiere).
The Science Center is also widely regarded as an industry leader in informal education and plays an ever-increasing role in Arizona’s public school system. Collaborations with universities, businesses and numerous community partners allow the Science Center to provide a comprehensive array of low-cost, standards-based educational offerings including on-site gallery tours and presentations, in-school programs, community outreach across the state and professional development programs for teachers.
Are you up for the challenge?
The Kresge Foundation in Troy, Michigan recently announced a $1 million challenge grant for the Science Center, as part of the Center’s $30 million The Future of Education is Science capital and endowment program. This means that if the Science Center can raise $1 million by March 1, 2009, the Kresge Foundation will award it an additional $1 million.
Arizona Science Center needs your help to raise the $1 million needed to meet the challenge by March 1, 2009.
Kresge Challenge donations will directly support the ongoing revitalization of the Center’s permanent exhibit galleries and expansion of hands-on explorations in classrooms across the state and at the Science Center.
Show Your Support
To-date, the Center has revitalized its Irene P. Flinn Theater, upgrading to state-of-the art IMAX® 3D technology. The new Dorrance Planetarium’s NanoSeam Dome brings breathtakingly beautiful imagery of the galaxy to life with a clarity and vitality that can not be experienced at any other science center in the world!
Your Kresge Challenge funds will support exciting, new, permanent exhibit galleries, including:
- FORCES OF NATURE in the Sybil B. Harrington Galleries – Experience the eye of the storm on Level 3, replacing The World Around You. NOW OPEN!
- MY DIGITAL WORLD – This new, high-tech gallery will replace the Fab Lab on Level 3. Opening summer 2008.
- CHARGED UP in the Kemper and Ethel Marley Foundation Gallery – This new, totally interactive gallery will replace Networks on Level 2. Opening fall 2008.
