You and your child are invited to join us as we explore a variety of topics, activities and experiments that are sure to excite you both about science. Advanced registration required.

Recommended for ages 6-10 with an adult. 

Pricing for one parent and one child:

$15 Member; $20 Non-Member; $5 per additional child

Jan. 30: Let's Get Swinging

Throughout history pendulums have been used for all kids of great things like clocks and showing that the Earth spins! Now you can experiment with what happens to a pendulum's swing if you change certain variables.

Feb. 13: Surfing the Oceans

We learn more about Mars than the Earth's oceans! Let's dive in and learn a little more about this body of water and its amazing inhabitants.

Feb. 27: Beaks and Feet

Why do ducks have webbed feet and eagles don't? Why does a humming bird have such a long beak? Join us and explore how beaks and feet are important for each animal's survival.

Mar. 13: Beautiful Butterflies

Learn all about the metamorphoic stages of the Painted Lady butterfly. Leave for home with larvae and a habitat that you made so the whole family can witness this marvelous transformation. Materials fee of $5 per family will be charged.

Mar. 27: The Power of the Sun

With all the talk about "going green", it's time to explore the world of solar energy and learn how it can be part of your future. Sponsored by APS.

Apr. 10: Oh, the Pressure!

Can you put an egg in a bottle? Have you ever levitated a table or crushed a can without touching it? We can do it and more as you explore the awesome power of air pressure.

Apr. 24: What a Team!

Thank goodness for the Wright brothers and Bernoulli - how else could we travel coast to coast in hours instead of days! Through a variety of hands-on experiments, explore flight and the principles that Bernoulli discovered years ago!

May 8: Shake, Rattle and Roll

We go about our daily activities not realizing that beneath our feet is a very restless Earth. Get the inside scoop about earthquakes - why they happen, and where they are located around the world.

Crocodiles swallow stones to help them dive deeper.

Join Arizona Science Center at Changing Hands Bookstore for a little light reading and science explorations! On the 4th Saturday of every month Arizona Science Center will be reading some of your favorite books and offering some free science activities for kids of all ages to enjoy! 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Join us for some sweet "heart" fun , as we read the classic story 'The Kissing Hand' and enjoy hands-on science activities like making bloody heart print valentines and learn about the science of chocolate.

Sweet Heart Day

This Valentine's Day, learn what makes your heart race and your blood pressure sizzle - your sweet heart! Arizona Science Center has partnered with the American Heart Association to help you learn how your heart works and how to ensure healthier, longer lives for you and your loved ones.

Get to the heart of the matter with fun, hands-on activcities including: The Secret Life of Chocolate, Love Bugs with Hermie the Germie, Make Your Own "Bloody" Heart Prints, The "Real" Valentine's Day Heart, Blood Pressure Screening, Heart Healthy Prize Wheel and Go Healthy Challenge.

Presented in partnership with the American Heart Association.

Engineer's Day

Visit with local engineering materminds and enjoy hands-on demonstrations and activities that highlight the science behind engineering. Ogranized by Sarach Smedley in honor of National Engineer's Week.

Bio Buzz Family Series: Getting Into Medical School
10:15-10:35 a.m.

Join us for this new series of family-friendly, 20-minute lectures designed to stimulate conversation and inquiry surrounding a variety of topics within the field of bioscience in a "kid-friendly" format.

Feb 27: "Where Do New Foods Come From?"

Family Camp-ins at Arizona science Center

Get ready for an unforgettable night of fun! We convert four floors of interactive exhibits into an all-night adventure! Experience exciting science demonstrations, visit our latest traveling exhibition and take a trip to the stars in the Science Center's Dorrance Planetarium.

Camp-in includes theme related activites, planetarium show, pizza dinner and continental breakfast.

COST:
Members - $38 per person
Non-Members - $43 per person

What to bring:
Camp-in participants will sleep in a designated area on a gallery floor. The floor is hard! We recommend a sleeping bag, pillow, pad or air mattress. Temperature at the Science Center at night can be unpredictable, so please bring appropriate clothing and sleeping gear. Please do not bring flashlights, radios, CD players or video games. Flashlights will be provided if needed.

    6:00 p.m. Friday to 8:30 a.m. Saturday

    This camp-in is for everyone and is co-ed! Perfect for scouts, school groups, community groups, families and more! This event is open to the public!
