Many Hands Make a Home

Located in the Freeman Gallery

Residential construction abounds in the Valley of the Sun and this exhibition offers an in-depth look at the process of creating a house, start to finish. It highlights the many people who collaborate in the homebuilding process. Hands-on exhibits exploring electricity, plumbing, carpentry, design and project management will invite visitors to learn more about home construction. The exhibition is located on the 1st floor of the Center in the Freeman Gallery.

Wired For Thought

Beginning with a section of general information of how contemporary science views the brain, the exhibition is organized into three key periods of development - the Early Childhood Brain, the Teenage Brain and the Adult/Aging Brain. Each of these areas presents visitors with the opportunity to engage in activities based directly on, or related to, experiments scientists use to study and understand the brain.

Forces of Nature – NOW OPEN! 

Located in the Sybil B. Harrington Galleries
Find out what happens when nature unleashes its full force! The centerpiece of Forces of Nature is the Immersion Theater, supported by a grant from the Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold Foundation. Featuring multiple overhead video screens, surround sound, realistic physical effects and a motion-floor system, the theater will showcase one monster storm and extreme geological event after another in a series of immersive montages that puts guests right in the center of the action. Surrounding the Immersion Theater is a highly interactive, three-part exhibit zone where guests are able to experiment with science focused on land, water and air.
