2009 summer Camp

Forget writing your name in your underwear and bunking down with mosquitoes! This summer, kids need travel no farther than Camp Science at Arizona Science Center. Each day campers will explore a different area of science - Chemistry Cabin, Biology Bunk, Physics Field, Geology Back Packs and Planetarium Playground - and still be home in time for supper.

Science is fun for everyone at Camp Science!

Chemistry Cabin:
Spend a day with test tubes and vials. Create concoctions involving dissolving acids and bases and explore the complexity of polymers.

Biology Bunk:
Delve into the functions of life from DNA to plants to insect life forms. Observe and compare the structures and behaviors of insects, and compare structure in your own body.

Physics Field
Participate in engaging, hands-on physics activities; develop the "new basics" in teamwork and problem solving using Newton's age old discoveries.

Geology Back Packs
What discoveries can you make in a box of rocks, pebbles, sand and silt? How were they formed and where will they go? What makes a volcano erupt and lightning strike?

Planetarium Playground
Play among the stars and journey to other planets in the cutting-edge Dorrance Planetarium. Plot constellations and learn the mythical stories behind popular constellations.

Age Groups:

Investigators: Ages 6-7

Junior Scientists: Ages 8-10

Researchers: Ages 10-11

Locations:

Sessions 1-6 are offered at Arizona Science Center
Early and late drop-off is available at the Science Center location only.

Sessions 1 & 2 are also offered at Frost Elementary, 1560 W. Summit Place, Chandler, AZ 85224.

Campers at the East Valley location will visit Arizona Science Center on Fridays.

Members: $200
Non-members: $225
M-F, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.*
Each camper is responsible for bringing their own lunch and beverage.

Teens - have you ever wondered what it would be like to help research a cure for cancer, look at cells through a high powered microscope or watch doctors at work? Join Arizona Science Center for a week-long experience at Barrow Neurological Institute.
